The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has advised that plan sponsors should not complete the new compliance questions added to Schedules H (financial information) and R (retirement plan information) of the 2015 Form 5500. Originally, the new questions were optional for 2015, but required for the 2016 Form 5500. The change in position is due to the fact that the Office of Management and Budget had not approved the new questions when the 2015 Form was released.
