On December 9, 2015, the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC) launched a new electronic portal, called the “PBGC e-filing portal,” for sponsors and administrators of single-employer and multiemployer plans to use in filing various forms. This portal is separate from PBGC’s My PAA portal, which must be used for premium filings.
Use of the new portal is mandatory for certain forms and discretionary for others, and requires the user to set up an account. Electronic filing by e-mail remains available only for forms not required to be filed on the portal. Filers should check PBGC’s website before filing to determine whether the portal must or can be used for the form being filed.
In a separate action, PBGC issued the instructions for filing of 2016 premiums, which is made through the My PAA portal. The only changes in the 2016 instructions are updated premium rates.
