The Communicator Awards is an international awards competition founded by communications professionals to recognize excellence in the communications field. Segal/MGC Communications received The Award of Excellence, "given to those entries whose ability to communicate puts them among the best in the field," for its work with the Pennsylvania Public School Employees' Retirement System Health Options Program (PSERS HOP). This Open Enrollment Campaign was a fully integrated communications campaign designed to both increase participation and educate retirees so they could take advantage of the new Medicare Part D prescription drug plans being offered for the first time in 2006. This campaign combined print, online and face-to-face communications, including announcement postcards, a new Web site, five versions of enrollment kits with personalized statements for all 120,000 retirees, survey cards, detailed informational brochures, 70 informational meetings (attended by more than 20,000 retirees), Medicare Supplement brochures, an Abridged Formulary brochure, and training for customer service representatives. The Award of Distinction, which was presented to Segal/MGC for its work on Time Warner's "2006 Benefit Planner," recognizes "projects that exceed industry standards in quality and excellence." Time Warner's 2006 Benefit Planner provided employees with a detailed look at upcoming changes in their medical plans and a complete "how-to" enrollment guide with decision-making tools for their medical, dental and vision plans, FSAs and transportation programs. The introduction of a Consumer-Driven Health Care Plan option made it critical to explain this complex information in clear, concise language and provide tips, tools and resources on how to use benefits wisely and become a fully informed health care consumer.
