Organization and Talent
In Sibson's Organization and Talent practice, we help organizations by solving problems
that lie at the intersection of business strategy and operational effectiveness. Our focus on organization and talent is differentiated by our commitment to go beyond "best practices" to focus on customized solutions and execution that creates impact.
Sibson's Organization and Talent service areas include:
Current and future skill shortages can cripple an organization's ability to execute its strategy. Sibson has provided a practical approach to Human Capital Planning that helps our clients predict and close skill gaps before they become a problem.
Turnover Reduction
An organization's ability to retain its key employees is commonly recognized as a critical competitive advantage in today's economy. But there is no magic potion for retention in every company. Sibson helps companies determine the real costs of turnover (see a sample of the way our Cost of Turnover Calculator works) then determine the true causes of turnover, which is the key to finding cost effective cures.
Organization Assessment, Design and Effectiveness
An organization's ability to produce results is in part determined by the effectiveness of its structure and operating model. Sibson helps clients assess the effectiveness of their organizations and determine what changes will have the greatest leverage on results.
Too often, organizations create new structures without paying attention to the operating model or how the organization operates; however, new structures with old operating models usually don’t produce the desired results. Sibson can help design new organizations and make them more effective with our "100 day plan" process for designing and implementing a new operating model.
Talent Management, Standards, Development and Succession
Organizations need the right talent in order to be effective, and finding the right talent requires a set of integrated talent management standards and processes.
- Talent standards: Sibson helps clients create talent standards for key roles so that better talent management decisions can be made. Talent standards can include functional skills, behavioral competencies, or demonstrated results.
- Talent processes: Once talent standards are in place, talent processes can be designed and aligned so that high quality talent is ready when needed.
- Talent management assessment: Many organizations have good talent management programs, but the programs are not in alignment or are not executed well to truly produce better talent. Sibson's Talent Management Assessment process can identify the key areas for improvement so that the processes produce a better fit between the overall talent portfolio and the organization's needs.
Human Resources Functional Effectiveness
The effectiveness of the Human Resources function is critical to overall organizational effectiveness. Our consultants help clients evaluate the Human Resources function from a strategic perspective to position HR so that it can add significant value in enabling the institution to achieve its strategic objectives.
While each situation is unique, our assessments generally fall into one of two categories:
- Strategic Review - Evaluates the overall alignment of the HR organization with the broad competitive strategy of the institution
- Operational Review - Assesses the effectiveness of HR's structure, staff, service offerings, and administrative offerings. At the conclusion of each of these reviews, we provide a clear set of recommendations for prioritizing, developing, and implementing enhancements. We can also provide consultation in implementing recommendations, if desired.
