The Opportunity
The individual will be a member of an established, talented regional consulting practice and have the opportunity to perform in a significant role collaborating with colleagues and leading efforts to grow and service the health needs of clients in the Washington, DC market. You will have high visibility, be a key contributor and be involved in not only challenging consulting activities, but in planning and executing strategies and initiatives to enhance and grow a business.
The Role
The Health Consultant assists East Region clients with a wide variety of issues related to the design and management of health, life, and disability health plans. The incumbent interacts directly with clients, health care providers, practice colleagues, and Benefit Consultants in providing integrated and high quality health consulting services. This includes doing technical work that is advanced in nature and performing all responsibilities at a high level of proficiency. Projects and/or responsibilities may include but not be limited to:
- Plan design and competitive benchmarking,
- IBNR analysis,
- Claim cost analysis for SOP 92-6 Valuations,
- Network evaluations,
- Quarterly and annual financial reports,
- COBRA rate development,
- Vendor management including settlements and renewals,
- Development of bid specifications,
- Analysis of proposals,
- Client presentations,
- Budget Projections,
- Mentoring and training of junior staff.
Key Requirements
The ideal candidate will have 7-10 years of experience within a consulting/professional service related environment and/or insurance carrier or HMO serving the group market; possess health & welfare benefit plan knowledge along with strong underwriting and project management skills; have excellent interpersonal and communication (oral/written) skills and requisite software and computer skills; and is keenly interested in developing their professional knowledge/skills outside the work environment.
