The Opportunity: The individual will join a growing and dynamic corporate-oriented practice and; step into a multi-faceted, senior-level role that offers the opportunity to significantly and positively impact growth of a retirement consulting business. The Retirement Actuary - FSA (Client Relationship Manager) or RA/CRM is a key leadership role within the practice and division and, collaborates closely with management and senior practitioners to develop and implement strategic and tactical plans to market and sell the full-range of employee benefits and human capital consulting services to the corporate community on a national basis and, then oversee the servicing of key client relationships. The RA/CRM also demonstrates leadership by leading or contributing to initiatives designed to build intellectual capability, organization skill and know-how and, ultimately, ability to compete as an innovative and profitable business.
The Role: The Retirement Actuary - FSA (Client Relationship Manager) or RA/CRM has primary relationship accountability for assigned clients and overall responsibility for servicing and maximizing the profitability of client relationships on behalf of the firm. Specifically, the RA/CRM collaborates with others at Segal to: build and maintain effective and influential relationships at senior levels within the client organization; develop and implement strategies to provide high quality, creative and integrated consulting services to clients; lead and/or participate in new business development initiatives targeting existing and prospective clients organizations; provide a high level of creative, if not innovative, technical expertise to colleagues and clients around the myriad of issues and emerging developments in the retirement plan industry. The RA/CRM performs as the primary consultant on design, funding, administration and regulatory aspects of retirement income issues to include defined benefit plans, defined contribution plans, non-qualified plans, liability aspects of retiree health plans (i.e., FAS 106) and, other post-retirement benefits (e.g., FAS 112, etc.). The RA/CRM directs and guides engagement teams and plays a proactive role in mentoring and developing staff and, contributing to the overall intellectual and professional development of the practice.
Key Requirements: The ideal candidate will have: a minimum of an undergraduate degree in a quantitative discipline; 10 years of retirement plan/pension actuarial experience within a consulting or related professional services-oriented environment; attained FSA/EA Society of Actuaries accreditation (mandatory); expertise in a combination of the design, funding, administration and compliance aspects of retirement plans; experience managing large/complex projects and client relationships on either a primary or secondary basis; demonstrated experience and success at business development activities; effective communication (oral/written) and interpersonal skills with ability to interact with and positively motivate diverse audiences.
