The Segal Group Announces Officer Promotions

New York (7/22/14) —  Joseph A. LoCicero, President and CEO of The Segal Group announced the following recent officer promotions:

To Senior Vice President:

Jason M. Adwin. Mr. Adwin joined the firm in 2000 as a Human Resources Consultant. He was promoted to Senior Consultant in 2005 and to Vice President in 2008. Mr. Adwin has nearly 20 years of experience working with organizations on their human capital strategies with special expertise in compensation and performance management. He received a BS in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University. Jason is currently Vice President of the New York/New Jersey Chapter of the National Association of Stock Plan Professionals (NASPP). He is also a Certified Compensation Professional (CCP), earning his accreditation from WorldatWork.

Frederick Herberich. Mr. Herberich joined Segal’s San Francisco office in 2002 as a Benefits Consultant. He was promoted to Vice President in 2009. Mr. Herberich had more than a decade of experience in project management and sales and marketing before joining Segal. He currently works with some of the firm’s largest multiemployer health and welfare and retirement plan clients in California and the Northwest. Mr. Herberich holds a BA in Economics from John Hopkins University.

Karen M. Johnson. Ms. Johnson joined Segal’s New York office in 1987 and was promoted to Vice President in 2002. In 2011, she became Health Compliance Practice Leader for the firm’s New York Region. Ms. Johnson has more than 25 years of experience in health care, administration and compliance and currently consults with virtually all of the New York Region’s multiemployer and public sector health and welfare plan clients. She received a BA in Classics from Mount Holyoke College and an MPA in Health Financial Management from New York University. Ms. Johnson recently obtained certification as a SHOP exchange broker under the Affordable Care Act.

Mary P. Kirby. Ms. Kirbyjoined Segal in 2000 as a Health Actuarial Team Leader and was named Vice President in 2005. In 2012, she was named manager for the firm’s NY Region Retiree Health Practice. As such, she manages Segal’s New York Health Practice retiree health plan services and works with many regional and national multiemployer and public sector active and retiree health plan clients. Ms. Kirby is a member of the firm’s Office of the Chief Actuary. She also is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, a Fellow of the Conference of Consulting Actuaries and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries. She received a BS summa cum laude in Mathematics from St. John’s University (Queens, NY) and an MS in Applied Mathematics and Statistics from Stevens Institute of Technology (Hoboken, NJ).

Margaret T. Lennon. Ms. Lennon joined Segal’s New York office in 1999 as a Health Consultant and was named a Vice President in 2007. She works on many of the New York Region’s major health clients in both the multiemployer and public sector markets. Ms. Lennon received a BBA in Insurance from The College of Insurance and an MBA in Finance from Iona College. She holds a Producer License in Life, Accident/Health Insurance in the states of CT, DC, DE, MD, NJ, NY, PA and VA. Margaret also holds a CLU (Chartered Life Underwriter) designation.

Michael O’Malley, PhD. Dr. O’Malley joined Sibson Consulting’s New York office in 2012 as a Vice President and Human Capital Consultant. He has more than 20 years of experience in compensation, performance management, organizational design and effectiveness, staffing and selection and leadership development. Dr. O’Malley has significant cross-industry experience, including work within academia. He is responsible for a broad range of human capital initiatives focusing on compensation design and organizational effectiveness. Dr. O’Malley earned his BA from Case Western Reserve University (Cleveland, OH), where he was elected Phi Beta Kappa. He received his PhD in Social Psychology and Quantitative Methods from Vanderbilt University. He is the author of key leadership books, “Every Leader is an Artist” and “The Wisdom of Bees.”

To Vice President:

Christopher Babiak. Mr. Babiak joined Segal’s New York office in 1997 as a Marketing Consultant. In 2002, he joined the firm’s newly formed National Sales and Marketing group as a Manager. He was promoted to Director of National Marketing Services in 2005. Mr. Babiak leads the Company’s presence at many large national conferences, seminars and online webinars, and manages advertising and collateral materials programs and marketing data and analytics services. He received a BS in Finance with a concentration in Accounting from Miami University (Oxford, OH) and an MBA with concentration in Finance from Rider University (Lawrence, NJ).

Angelita M. Becom. Ms. Becom joined Sibson Consulting’s Raleigh office in 2000 and was promoted to Senior Consultant in 2009. She has specific expertise in employee compensation, performance and talent management and often publishes articles on these topics. Ms. Becom also serves as the Project Manager for many client assignments and manages client teams. Angelita holds a BS in Business Administration from the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina and an MBA from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan. She is certified as a Compensation Management Specialist by the International Society of Certified Employee Benefit Specialists (ISCEBS).

Amy J. Girardo. Ms. Girardo joined Segal’s Phoenix office in 2004 as a Health Benefits Consultant. She assists clients in the public and higher education sectors in managing their ongoing employee benefits plans and developing health and welfare strategies. Her expertise includes the unique benefits challenges faced by higher education institutions. Ms. Girardo is a former president of the Phoenix Chapter of the Worldwide Employee Benefits Network (WEB) and also holds a State of Arizona Producer License in Accident/Health and Life as well as licenses in CA, CO, ID, NV, OR and WA. Ms. Girardo received a BAA from Central Michigan University.

Dennis T. Kearney. Mr. Kearney joined Segal’s New York office in 2002 as an Actuarial Analyst. He became an Associate Benefits Consultant in 2007 and a Benefits Consultant in 2009. Mr. Kearney works with several large New York Region multiemployer clients. He frequently leads presentations on group health and pension topics in the New York area. Mr. Kearney received a BS in Mathematics from Montclair State University (Montclair, NJ). He holds a Producer License in Life Insurance, Accident/Health and Sickness in the states of NJ and NY.

Megan K. Kelly. Ms. Kelly joined Segal’s Cleveland office in 2010 as a Benefits Consultant. She has more than 15 years of consulting experience, and works with multiemployer clients on a wide variety of benefit issues and topics. Ms. Kelly graduated summa cum laude from Ohio University with a BA in Health Care Administration and a minor in Business. She is a Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS), a Member of the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans (IFEBP), a Member of the Health Action Council (HAC) and a Member of the Worldwide Employee Benefits Network (WEB).

Thomas McDonough. Mr. McDonough joined Segal’s San Francisco office in 2008 as a Senior Compliance Specialist. He provides retirement compliance consulting services to multiemployer benefit plans and manages retirement compliance consulting services for the West Region. Mr. McDonough received a BS in Telecommunications and Film from San Diego State University and holds a JD from California Western School of Law. He is a member of the State Bar of California and the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans.

Jonathan Minor. Mr. Minor joined Sibson Consulting’s Chicago office as a Project Coordinator for human capital consulting work in 2004 and was named a Senior Consultant in 2009. His consulting experience includes competitive assessments of total rewards programs, incentive plan design and corporate governance issues in the executive compensation and sales force effectiveness areas. Mr. Minor received a BA in Economics with an emphasis in Mathematics from the University of Wisconsin. He also studied Economics at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid in Spain. He has written and co-authored several articles.

Ernest Naegele. Mr. Naegele joined Segal’s Washington, DC office in 2001 as an Actuarial Associate in the Retirement Practice. He has more than 25 years of experience in health and retirement plan consulting. Mr. Naegele is currently the client relationship manager for several multiemployer pension and health funds and retiree health Voluntary Employees’ Beneficiary Associations. He has also consulted with international unions on a variety of health plan issues. Mr. Naegele received a BS in Mathematics from Fairmont State College (Fairmont, WV).

Brad Ramirez. Mr. Ramirez joined Segal’s Denver office in 2005 as an Actuarial Associate. He has more than 15 years of consulting experience working with public sector retirement plans and is an expert in funding, design and administration. He is the lead consultant and actuary for two public sector state employee retirement systems and works with other clients across the West and Midwest. Mr. Ramirez received a BS in Mathematics and an MS with an emphasis in Abstract Algebra from the University of Nevada and served as a Graduate Teaching Fellow at the University of Oregon. Mr. Ramirez is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, a Fellow of the Conference of Consulting Actuaries, a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries and an Enrolled Actuary.

Matthew A. Strom. Mr. Strom joined Segal’s Chicago office in 2007 as an Actuary in the Retirement Practice, and has nearly 20 years of experience in the actuarial field. He is one of the firm’s key Governmental Accounting Standards Board experts and works with major public sector retirement systems on actuarial valuations and actuarial cost studies. He also manages multiple special projects for public sector, multiemployer and corporate retirement plans. Mr. Strom received a BS with high distinction in Actuarial Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries and an Enrolled Actuary.

Michael S. Tesoriero. Mr. Tesoriero joined Segal’s New York Health Practice as a Health Benefits Consultant in 1998. He works with many large multiemployer welfare plan clients across a range of industries. He also serves as a key member of the firm’s Stop Loss Practice, negotiating stop loss contracts and conducting internal and external training seminars on the stop loss insurance market. He received a BS in Mathematics and a minor in Business from the State University of New York at Albany. He is currently pursuing designation as a Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) and holds a Producer License in Life, Accident/Health in the states of CT, DC, MD, DE, NY, PA and VA.

Jeffrey S. Williams. Mr. Williams joined Segal’s Atlanta office in 2003 as a Senior Actuarial Analyst and after several promotions was named an Associate Actuary in 2011. He has more than 15 years of retirement consulting experience and currently serves as a consulting actuary to several major public sector and multiemployer clients. Mr. Williams received a BS in Business Administration from Auburn University and attended the Masters of Actuarial Science program at Georgia State University. He is an Associate of the Society of Actuaries, a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries, a Fellow of the Conference of Consulting Actuaries and an Enrolled Actuary.
