Raleigh (10/14/15) — Sibson Consulting saw the potential in the Research Triangle, and in 1995 become the first national Human Resources Consulting firm to establish an office in the area. This year marks the office’s 20th anniversary.
“The Research Triangle has been an excellent market for us because we have top employers here to work with, and are able to attract top talent from the many surrounding universities,” commented Sibson vice president Angelita Becom. “Additionally, our employees are grateful to work within this community.”
Sibson Consulting is part of The Segal Group, the largest employee-owned HR consulting firm in the United States that performs benefits, human capital and investment consulting. Our office here in the Research Triangle is a center of excellence for its human capital offerings in the Corporate, Higher Education and Healthcare Markets.
“We team up with our colleagues in the Atlanta office to cover the Southeast,” added Becom. “Our office primarily supports clients with organizational effectiveness, performance management, compensation and talent management.”
Senior vice president Jim Kochanski, one of the office’s founders, noted, “We’ve had the opportunity to serve wonderful clients in the area over the past 20 years across many industries, including higher education, pharmaceutical, hospitals and health technology, IT and non-profits, just to name a few. This has given our consultants the opportunity to be part of the community through our work.”
Mr. Kochanski also pointed out the good fortune of having a relationship with the NC State human resources program in the School of Management. “We have had the chance to teach, learn, research, support student development, and hire graduates as a result of our relationship. In fact, two of our consultants are graduates of the program, and Ms. Becom recently joined the program’s advisory committee.”
Sibson's consultants also volunteer and contribute to many local organizations including the Salvation Army, Food Bank, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Boy Scouts, and Duke Children’s Hospital. Several Sibson alumni, including State Treasurer Janet Cowell, are deeply involved in local organizations.
Sibson's first Research Triangle area office was in MacGreggor Park in Cary. Seventeen years ago, the firm became an original occupant of the Crescent Green office park in Cary, and remains there today.
Consultants from Sibson's Research Triangle Area office volunteer at the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina.
