New York (1/13/15) — Joseph A. LoCicero, President and CEO of The Segal Group has announced that Mildeen Worrell has joined the firm as Vice President and Compliance Practice Leader for the East Region. Ms. Worrell is an accomplished healthcare and benefits lawyer with more than 25 years of experience. She served as Senior Benefits Counsel to the U.S. House of Representatives, Committee on Ways and Means from 1991-2009, and gained experience with the U.S. Tax Court and Sutherland, Asbill & Brennan, a law firm. From 2010-2012, she served as Chair of the ERISA Advisory Council and Advisor to the Secretary of Labor.
“Mildeen’s history of prominent positions in government and law brings additional perspective to the compliance and administration issues our health and retirement plan clients face,” commented Mr. LoCicero. “We think her experience dealing with the challenges presented by ERISA and the Affordable Care Act will be instrumental in assisting those clients as they move forward.”
Ms. Worrell is currently an adjunct professor at the University of Baltimore School of Law (Baltimore, MD) where she teaches employee benefits law and the role of government agencies in developing statutory guidance and compliance enforcement. She holds two law degrees: an LL.M in Tax Law from New York University School of Law and a J.D. from Boston University School of Law. Ms. Worrell is a cum laude graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Amherst from which she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration - Accounting.
Ms. Worrell is working out of the firm’s Washington, D.C. Office and reporting to John Flynn, Senior Vice President and East Region Manager.
